Did you know that the school bus is the safest form of transportation for your child, both to and from school? Not only are school busses specially designed to be safer than passenger vehicles in preventing injury and avoiding crashes, school bus drivers undergo rigorous training that includes much more than a driving test.

Built-In Saftey:

School buses are bright in color, have reinforced sides, stop sign arms, cross-view windows, and flashing red lights for optimal safety. These safety features make it easy for other drivers to see school busses on the road, even in inclement weather, while allowing the driver to see every angle around him in order to drive as safe as possible.

Extensive Driver Training:

Drivers undergo training in several fields in order to get behind the wheel of a school bus. In addition to the standard driving test, prospective drivers are trained in emergency medical procedures, security procedures, loading and unloading, and student behavior management, in order to have the skills necessary to respond to any situation that may arise during transportation. Also, drivers participate in random drug and alcohol testing, as well as frequent driving record checks.

Every year, thousands of children are injured or killed as a result of an automobile crash. In fact, car crashes are the leading cause of death among children 1 - 12 years old. This school year, participate in school bus transportation and help keep your child as safe as possible.
